HFSS Update May 2022

·         Government delays restrictions on multibuy deals and advertising on TV and online – Due to the global economic situation the UK Government have delayed restricting promotions until October 2023.  They want to monitor the cost of living this includes BOGOF, 3 for 2 and free refills on drinks.

·         However, placement of HFSS products will still go ahead in October 2022 in line with their commitment to reduce obesity therefore products cannot be put at checkouts, store entrances or aisle ends. 

·         The advertisement of HFSS has also been extended to January 2024 because of a delay to the Health and Care Bill and also recognition that the industry needs time to prepare.
